IRAN HANGS 10 CONVICTED OF DRUG TRAFFICKING
March 1, 2009: Iran executed 10 men for drug trafficking in the western Kermanshah Province, the province’s public prosecutor told the semi-official ISNA news agency.
“Kermanshah’s prosecutor’s office will show no negligence in its decisive confrontation with such criminals, who jeopardise the public’s security and wellbeing,” Mojtaba Maleki said. Maleki said that some of the men, who had previous criminal records, had earlier been granted amnesty, but were re-arrested and tried for again joining what he called a “drug trafficking mafia”.
