AFGHANISTAN: THREE AWARDED DEATH PENALTY IN MURDER CASES
March 12, 2009: a primary court in western Herat province, Afghanistan, sentenced three to death in two murder cases.
Farhad Khademi, district chief of Oba said two of the criminals were arrested in the Farsi district of Herat and the other was arrested in Tolak district of Ghor province. Hafizullah, attorney of Oba said in 2008 that Layqa, 30, allegedly killed her husband with the support of her brother-in-law and both were arrested five months later in Farsi district.
The attorney said Bibi Gul, a resident of Riga village in Oba district, allegedly killed her husband Adam khan, 35. He added the criminals have the right to file an appeal in high and supreme courts. (Sources: Pajhwok Afghan News, 12/03/2009)
